ID: GD354
CDs: 1
Type: CD
Collection: Opera & Vocal Collection

The Bulgarian National Radio Children’s Choir was founded in 1960. Its founder and conductor since the beginning has been academician Hristo NEDYALKOV. During these 50 years the choir has been on 80 tours and it has given over 2000 concerts in 32 countries. Its repertoire includes about 800 songs written by Bulgarian and foreign composers. They have been recorded and released on many vinyl records and compact discs.
The young singers in the choir receive real vocal mastership schooling. It is thus natural that some of them choose singing as a profession, while the rest cherish their love for music throughout their whole life.
In this jubilee release, the children’s choir presents an interesting and varied programme, which includes songs by Bulgarian composers, opera choruses and works from the world music classics.

Founded 45 years ago, the choir has performed in over 30 countries, and has had repeated appearances in some of them (with 16 concert tours in Japan only!). Many of the children who had sung in the choir have chosen music as their career and have become outstanding performers. The choir has been announced as a “Cultural ambassador in Europe”. Its conductor Hristo Nedyalkov has devoted his life and work to the choir and has written 400 songs for it. Many of them have become greatly popular, especially his winter and Christmas songs, which are included in the choir’s previous release (GD 287). Hristo Nedyalkov has received the “Stara Planina” order, as well as the outstanding Japanese “Golden Rays” Order of the sacred treasure. The choir’s fourth CD released on the Gega New label features songs based on poems by distinguished Bulgarian poets. As all songs of the choir, the ones included in the present CD are very melodious. Many of the songs are sung by children at kindergartens and schools and the release will be of use to such listeners as it contains the lyrics to the songs as well as the instrumental accompaniment.

Michael Vetter & The Overtone Choir - Ancient Voices

Michael Vetter & The Overtone Choir - Ancient Voices
ID: ARNR0192
CDs: 1
Type: CD
Collection: Choral Collection
Subcollection: Choir

This recording features harmonic singing, a vocal technique which allows the performer to sing two or more melodic lines simultaneously. Recorded at the famous Cistercian abbey in Senanque, France, the enigmatic voices of The Overtone Choir directed by Michael Vetter, one of the very few contemporary Masters of this transcendental vocal technique, create beautiful vocal textures. These unique harmonic sounds demonstrate that man can be the complete and ultimate musical instrument, and offer a completely new way of approaching music.

The “male choir” reached its height of popularity during the 19th century. Nearly every village had a choir and so naturally there was a highly lucrative market for composers to write music for these ensembles. This recording is the debut release of the justifiably named “Meistersingers” who perform this repertoire with sensational perfection, sincerity and feeling.
