Composer: VUSTIN, Alexander ((b. 1943))
His/her music:
Important works:
Words - 1975 for brass and percussion
Memoria 2 - 1978 for percussion, keyboard instr and strings
Coming Home - 1981 for bariton voice and ensemble
Hommage a Beethoven - 1984 for percussion and small orchestra
His/her life:
Studied with Grigorij Frid and later with Wladimir Fere. Wrote before 1972 a.o. a String Quartet, a Symphony, a War Cantate. All these works are in a conventional style. In 1972 he scrapped all his early works. He belongs to a group of important modern Russian composers. Since the fall of the Soviet Union his works are more in demand. His thinking of music is more related to the visionary composers of early 20th century. The 'Hommage to Beethoven' is a little like 'music in tne old style' but in the fashion of polystilistic (like Schnittke)
