It includes 16 of the best performances of this ensemble with a huge repertoire worthy of respect. During the past 40 years many Bulgarian and foreign composers have created hundreds of songs for it. The choir became a vital part of the Bulgarian culture, as well as a focal point for children's musical education. Wide audiences have had the chance to enter the world of art under the guidance of these sincere and spontaneous messengers.
The qualities of the Radio Choir have always been emphasized, in every place where it toured. Its visits to Japan for example are 14 and it has given about 350 concerts in 150 towns! This CD gives an idea about the varied talents and the choir's high artistic achievements. Collection: Opera & Vocal Collection Subcollection: ChoirThe Bulgarian National Radio Children’s Choir was founded in 1960. Its founder and conductor since the beginning has been academician Hristo NEDYALKOV. During these 50 years the choir has been on 80 tours and it has given over 2000 concerts in 32 countries. Its repertoire includes about 800 songs written by Bulgarian and foreign composers. They have been recorded and released on many vinyl records and compact discs.
The young singers in the choir receive real vocal mastership schooling. It is thus natural that some of them choose singing as a profession, while the rest cherish their love for music throughout their whole life.
In this jubilee release, the children’s choir presents an interesting and varied programme, which includes songs by Bulgarian composers, opera choruses and works from the world music classics.

Collection: Ballet Music Subcollection: Voices and Orchestra“Giselle” was shown on the Bolshoi Theatre stage in 1843 after it had charmed the Parisian audience surviving the triumphant birth at the Grand Opera and gaining popularity among Saint Petersburg residents. The ballet was to the taste of Russian music lovers, and since then it has never left the main Moscow stage. The music of the ballet presented on the disks corresponds to Grigorovich production that was performed in cooperation with the conductor Alexander Kopylov. The fragments that had not been issued by Adolphe Adam’s pen were still preserved and within the 19th century they were considered an inseparable part of the music of the ballet. The name of a little known composer Adolphe Adam (1803-1856) became famous due to “Giselle” that won the international recognition. The idea seemed so intriguing to him that he managed to compose music to the ballet within a week. Adolphe Adam (1803-1856) “GISELLE” (“Wilis”), Ballet in Two Acts. Firma Melodiya presents a unique set of recordings by soloists of the USSR Bolshoi Theatre - outstanding singers who performed on the main stage of this country during 1945 to 1990.
They call it the golden age of the Bolshoi not for nothing.
The first music theatre of the country attracted undiverted attention of not just millions of spectators and listeners (getting a ticket to the Bolshoi was almost an impracticable task for a “common Soviet citizen”). The supreme leadership of the Soviet Union watched the life of the theatre as closely as real music lovers did. Nearly all the premieres took place under the sign of “special responsibility”. The theatre recruited the best artistic forces from all over the country, and in the post-war period there still were those who got their education and started their careers even before the revolution keeping the continuity of the old tradition of the Imperial Bolshoi Theatre.
Galina Vishnevskaya, Irina Arkhipova, Elena Obraztsova, Tamara Sinyavskaya, Sergey Lemeshev, Ivan Kozlovsky, Vladimir Atlantov, Alexander Pirogov, Mark Reizen, Evgeny Nesterenko are just some of 30 soloists featured in this set. They are accompanied by the Bolshoi Orchestra lead by various conductors such as Nikolai Golovanov, Samuil Samosud, Alexander Melik-Pashayev, Evgeny Svetlanov, Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Yuri Fayer, Mark Ermler, Alexander Lazarev and others. Each of them made a valuable contribution to the treasury of Russian music culture of the 20th century.
The set includes fragments from Russian classical opera and ballet repertoire of the 19th and 20th centuries, and some of the most popular foreign operas and ballets staged at the Bolshoi |
