His/her life: Frédéric François Chopin (1810 – 1849) was a Polish composer and virtuoso pianist of the Romantic period, who wrote primarily for solo piano. He has maintained worldwide renown as a leading musician of his era, one whose "poetic genius was based on a professional technique that was without equal in his generation".
All of Chopin's compositions include the piano. They are mostly for solo piano, though he also wrote two piano concertos, some chamber music, and 19 songs set to Polish lyrics. His piano pieces are technically demanding and expanded the limits of the instrument; his own performances were noted for their nuance and sensitivity. Chopin's major piano works include mazurkas, waltzes, nocturnes, polonaises, the instrumental ballade (which Chopin created as an instrumental genre), études, impromptus, scherzi, preludes, and sonatas. |

Collection: Instrumental Subcollection: Harp Chopin and Liszt are both hailed as composers who belong, above all, to the piano. Liszt is perhaps the greatest technician the instrument has ever known, and Rubinstein described Chopin as the “soul of the piano”. Why, then, play these composers on the harp?
The harmony she produces touches everyone directly…the music is hers as if she were speaking. Everything appears effortless: whether in most virtuoso transitions or moments of the greatest delicacy, she takes the time to make every note speak…
Still aged only 23, the Belgian harpist Anneleen Lenaerts is making a name for herself as one of the finest young harpists of today. Her extraordinary talent made her perform all over Europe to great acclaim. Her harp playing is known for its colourful and warm sound, perfect timing and deep musical expression.
In December 2010 Anneleen was appointed Principal Harp of the Vienna Philharmonic. |

Collection: Vocal Collection Subcollection: Vocal and Piano The joined forces of music and literature can lift up both arts beyond themselves. It is this promise that impelled many composers throughout the centuries to transcend their talents in the own musical discipline to create a higher reality - whether in the intimate atmosphere of the Lied or in the exhilarating publicity of the opera. A late seventeenth-century testimony of this is the semi-opera King Arthur (1691) by Henry Purcell: In What Power art thou, who from below… chills run down the spine when the allegorical figure Cold Genius shakes off the snow from his cloak at the request of Cupid, who wants to incite a new spring with his love. |

Collection: Instrumental Subcollection: Piano In Greek, the word signifies the reshaping (ana) of a form or image (Morfe). Since the Renaissance, artists have reshaped and experimented with perspectives on images. However, such reshaping can also occur in music, and this idea constitutes the concept of this album. The starting point of this album are compositions by Chopin (I) and Ravel (II), which are subsequently transformed into contemporary idiom and “perspective”, in the Chopiniata by Clément Doucet (I/1) or Anamorfosi by Salvatore Sciarrino (II/1). |
