Aaron Shorr joins in for the world premiere recording of Rochberg's Violin Sonata in a stunning live performance.
Presented here is Skærved’s highly regarded recording of the Caprice Variations for solo violin (previously released as MSVCD92065), with the première recording of Rochberg’s 1988 Violin Sonata.
George Rochberg is today regarded as one of the most important American composers of the 20th Century and his list of published compositions is very impressive. |

Walter Zimmermann is a leading figure in German new music, a prolifoc composer and a tireless advocate of other artists' work. Deserving to be much better known, his works, set in a deceptively simple way, are best heard in groups so as to emphasize his rich and coherent personal style. Performed by leading British interpreter of contemporary music, Ian Pace and recorded in the composer's presence. |

Collection: Vocal Collection Subcollection: Voices and Chamber EnsembleDavid Lumsdaine's work is mostly rooted in Australia where he was born though he now lives in the UK. This unique and intriguing set includes pieces for a variety of instruments (not all are vocal) a number of which relate to the Australian landscape and the sounds of its unique wildlife - which are also captured in live 'outback' recordings demonstrating the voices of the birds and creatures which inspired some of the works.
The music itself is most approachable and well written. Definitely an important addition to the modern music repertoire. |
