Collection: World Premiere Recording Subcollection: OrchestreThis is hardly believable. Here is an absolute first rate late romantic composer, forgotten because the Nazis made him forgotten! He kept loyal to his Jewish wife and to his political convictions and lost all his important positions in the Dresden musical life. He was much inspired by Richard Strauss, and his orchestral texture is full of a longing, radiant beauty. He has the same absolute command of the orchestra as Richard Strauss!
Berlin Radio SO conducted by Hans-Peter Frank (overture) and Gerhard Pflüger (symphony). |

Subcollection: ViolinThere is one word for Bengtsson´s music. Craftmanship. He is a Swedish Romantic allright -but his musik is more general in style than folkloristic. The soloists change place as conductors -they are both highly qualified to do so. You will love these concerts! |

Collection: World Premiere Recording Subcollection: OrchestreThe symphonic poem Vettern is absolutely gorgeous! Undoubtedly here is a real gem, a Swedish Vltava, with the same kind of sweeping, blazing beauty. The symphony is classically brief and poignant, and we also hear the very idyllic, sweet-sounding orchestral suite I Vadstena Kloster. |

Collection: World Premiere Recording Subcollection: OrchestreA re-release of the world premičre recording of symphonic poems by Alfvén. Collection: World Premiere Recording Subcollection: OrchestreElfrida Andrée was a Reinecke pupil, as is obvious from the symphony's big brass chorale melodies. The Fritiof Suite shows this even more! Originally conceived as an opera, the work was shortened into a symphonic suite written with surprising independence by the foremost Swedish lady organist. How is it possible that music of this quality could be forgotten? |

Collection: World Premiere Recording Subcollection: OrchestreHere is something very special. A grand, 57-minute, monumental romantic orchestral symphony, again written by an organ specialist. A truly great work with a slow, absolutely stunning third movement! This CD has already received high praise in the specialist press, resulting in excellent sales. Otto Olsson could have written many great orchestral works had he been allowed to develop his orchestral talents. |

Collection: World Premiere Recording Released to mark the anniversary of the 1897 Stockholm Exhibition, these works are truly monumental in scale, written by a composer whose severe self-criticism resulted in him writing very little. There are some stunningly written choral sections with a near Shostakovichian sense of drama in the Exhibition Cantata - which is seldom heard and played. This is supposedly one of the biggest recordings ever made in Sweden. |

Collection: World Premiere Recording Subcollection: OrchestreRubenson: what a character! Starting off as a composer with fresh ideas, returning from Germany in the mid 1850s, he ended up as a strongly conservative professor at the Stockholm Musical Academy. What a sad fate, with many promises unfulfilled! Goodman regards the composer as a very interested figure in Swedish musical history - with many gifted ideas - linked to Schumann. |

Subcollection: OrchestreA tragedy, when the Finnish Romantic Ernst Mielck died at the young age of 22, dreams unfullfilled. He was an extremely gifted pupil of Max Bruch. His symphony is a dark beautiful drama, with a third movement filled with an inward quality. The concert piece is based on folk musik from Finland, with many charming melodies. |
