Kolekce: Choral CollectionHear my words ye people by Hubert Parry, a former chorister at Eton College is the first track on the album featuring some of the bestloved anthems in the church repertoire, beautifully performed by the Eton College Chapel Choir.
The choir, formed in the 14th-Century has changed a great deal since the choir school was succeeded by a music scholarship system, designed to facilitate talented choristers with their education. Although life has changed at Eton, the music passed down over five hundred years still possesses a power to stir. |

Kolekce: Organ CollectionPodkolekce: Organ The World Premier recording of two of Naji Hakim’s late st works entitled Sakskøbing Præludier and Glenalmond Suite are performed by the composer himself in this fantastic collection of organ works.
Hakim arranged this programme to articulate the timbres of the new 26 stop organ at Glenalmond College, including works by Grigny, Boëllmann and Franck as well as opening with Te Deum, one of the most famous pieces by Jean Langlais.
Artist Note:
I chose the repertoire for the opening recital of the Glenalmond College instrument having in mind the stylistic flexibility and great elegance of Harrison & Harrison organs. As 2007 was the centenary year of my master and friend Jean Langlais, I decided to open the programme with one of his most famous pieces - Te Deum - on the Tutti of the organ, followed by works of Grigny, Boëllmann and Franck, articulating the programme to put in relief the colours of the instrument, such as mutations, flutes, voix céleste, foundations and reeds. The Sakskøbing Præludier, based on Danish hymns, are the prolongation of my credo, and, along with the Glenalmond Suite, are recorded here for the very first time. |

Kolekce: Vocal CollectionPodkolekce: Voices and Orchestra Emilia Dalby is one of the most promising new talents of her generation, and in her short career has already performed before illustrious figures such as Princess Anne and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Aged 11 when this disc was recorded, Emilia is one of Signum Record’s youngest artists. Emilia made her debut singing Rule Britannia at The Sail for Gold Ball 2004 when she was just nine. Since then she has completed a full-time chorister post at Salisbury Cathedral, leaving in July 2008 with a music scholarship. During this period she has sung in Venice (San Marco), performing in many of the Great Cathedrals of Tuscany and a tour of Vienna and Salzburg.
The young soprano sings a selection of traditional folk tunes including The Last Rose of Summer and Steal Away, alongside Handel’s Laschia ch’io Pianga and IF by Michael Nyman, who proclaimed Emilia’s technique and sound as being “absolutely gorgeous”. |

The Royal Scottish National Orchestra’s Christmas Concert, which takes place every December with performances in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee and Aberdeen, is for many one of the highlights of the festive season.
This disc is a sample of the very best of these concerts, from well-loved family favourites - Twelve Days of Christmas, Jingle Bells - to the unique lesser-known works that make this event so consistently popular, such as Christmas Alphabet and The Penguin Song (which includes dance moves in the CD Booklet and above…) |

Piano Concerto
Saint-Saëns:
Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor, Op. 22
Emmanuel Despax is a rising star on the UK and international piano scene, who has performed at the Wigmore and Cadogan Halls in London, the Salle Gaveau and Louvre Auditorium in Paris, and with orchestras including the CBSO.
His debut concerto recording, with the Orpheus Sinfonia under Thomas Carroll, features the premiere recording of Stephen Goss’s Piano Concerto, inspired by the designs of Thomas Heatherwick (the work’s premiere performance was the first classical concert in which audiences were invited to bring their ipads and tablets, to watch an interactive display designed to accompany the music). The work is accompanied by two similarly expressive and characterful works, Saint-Saëns’ ever-popular Piano Concerto No.2 and Franck’s Variations symphoniques. |

Choral No. 3 in A minor, M. 40
Whitlock:
Organ Sonata in C minor
The first release from the restored organ of the famed Temple Church, London. Performed by associate Organist of the church Greg Morris, the programme includes several highlights of the organ repertoire, centred around Percy Whitlock’s stunning Organ Sonata.
Greg Morris is Associate Organist of the Temple Church in London and Musical Director of Collegium Musicum of London. An acclaimed solo recitalist and recording artist, he is known for his exciting and revealing interpretations of a wide repertoire but has a particular bias towards the music of J.S. Bach and 20th-century French and English composers. He gave the world première of David Briggs’ Organ Concerto and subsequently recorded the work with the Northern Chamber Orchestra. This is his third CD for Signum. |
