The recordings were made recently on a new concert-grand piano.
This CD is part of a new pianist-led series of the piano roll albums. These contain some of the finest playing from the great pianists of the Early 20th Century. Some of these rolls are nearly 100 years old and come from a collection owned by Denis Condon, one of the worlds most respected authorities on the piano roll, with18,000 in his collection. He also can construct the machines that read the rolls. This album features rare recordings of high caliber pianists. These recordings were made in 1992 and recorded on a brand new Yamaha Concert Grand under Denis’s supervision. They are not historical recordings. These recordings have by far a better overall sound performance than any other recorded using older equipment - a must for enthusiasts of piano music and great performances (even historical ones). |
