Zahlreiche barocke Orgeln haben auf dem Thüringer Land die letzten Jahrhunderte schadlos überstanden. In der stilsicheren Interpretation von Sebastian Knebel erklingen Werke von J. S. Bach, Johann Pachelbel und Heinrich Buttstedt ganz authentisch auf wunderbaren Kleinoden der Barockzeit.
Sebastian Knebel zeigte früh Interesse für Orgelmusik und Orgelbau. Er absolvierte neben einer Lehre als Orgelbauer eine C-Kirchenmusikerausbildung: in dieser Zeit spielte er zahlreiche Orgelvertretungen an Berliner Kirchen (u. a. Dauervertretung am Französischen Dom). Er studierte in Dresden und Weimar Kirchenmusik und beschäftigte sich eingehend mit dem Spiel auf historischen Tasteninstrumenten. Darüber hinaus studierte er bei Ludger Rémy und belegte Kurse zur historischen Aufführungspraxis u. a. bei Harald Vogel und Ton Koopmann. Er engagierte sich für den Erhalt vom Verfall bedrohter historischer Orgeln, besonders in Thüringen. Von 1995 bis 2000 war er als Cembalist des Telemann Kammerorchesters tätig, seit 2001 ist er Cembalist des Telemannschen Collegium Michaelstein. Außerdem verfolgt er eine umfangreiche freiberufliche Konzerttätigkeit als Organist, Cembalist und Hammerflügelspieler. Er steht in ständiger Zusammenarbeit mit dem Körnerschen Singverein Dresden. Konzertreisen führen ihn u. a. nach Frankreich, Polen, Tschechien, England und die USA.

Greg Morris is Associate Organist of the Temple Church in London and Musical Director of Collegium Musicum of London. An acclaimed solo recitalist and recording artist, he is known for his exciting and revealing interpretations of a wide repertoire but has a particular bias towards the music of J.S. Bach and 20th-century French and English composers. He gave the world première of David Briggs’ Organ Concerto and subsequently recorded the work with the Northern Chamber Orchestra. This is his third CD for Signum. |

The seeds for Messiaen's final organ work were sown during an inspirational trip to Israel in 1984. o ver the course of the next twelve months, Messiaen found improvisation leading him back to composition after the exhausting labours that had produced his mighty opera Saint François d'Assise . The Livre du Saint Sacrement became Messiaen's grand farewell to his own instrument, and Michael Bonaventure performs it from memory here on the Rieger organ at St Giles' Cathedral, whose true acoustic preserves the clarity of Messiaen's lines. The stunning booklet incorporates a booklet essay written by Messiaen biographer Nigel Simeone and features full colour photography.
