Collection: Choral Collection Subcollection: Choir The massed voices of the National Youth Choir of Great Britain are ideally suited to the choral music of Henryk Mikolaj Górecki, music of a monumental radiance which demands a huge and rich sonority. Alongside the ever-popular Totus Tuus, this resplendent recording also contains two recent works here receiving their premieres on disc - the luminous Lobgesang and the thrillingly massive Salve Sidus Polonorum, for choir, organ, two pianos and percussion.
Górecki (1933-2010) made his reputation as a leader of the Polish avant-garde in the 1950s, with his early works marking ‘the most colourful and vibrant expression of the new Polish wave.’ Inspired by folk and religious influences, and demonstrating a clear affinity with the likes of Szymanowski and Bartók, the emotional power and clarity of his music continues to radiate and inspire. Tracing his choral works from the Psalm settings of 1972 to music written in his final decade, this disc provides a fascinating insight into one of the most unique musical voices of the twentieth century.

Collection: Christmas Music Subcollection: Choir The CD contains Christmas songs from all over the world, some of which, like Jingle bells, have become international hymns of the holiday. Most of them are folk songs - German, English and French, fruit of the anonymous popular art, carried and preserved throughout the centuries. Their simple melodies filled with joy and enthusiasm over the Holiday touch the heart of every person connected with Christianity and cherishing it. Besides the folk carols in this CD are included also songs created by composers and linked thematically with Christmas and the New Testament. This CD is both a wonderful gift and a chance to hear some of the pearls created for the glorification of Jesus Christ and his birth.
