Das Jahr 2005 ist das Schillerjahr, und gleichzeitig markiert es die zweite Ausgabe eines erstaunlichen Festivals, das am Rheinfall, in der Nordschweiz, organisiert wird: des Wort- und BildFestifall. Dieses Album mit dem Namen «Einzigartig Schiller» - das erste Hörbuch bei Claves Records - entführt den Hörer in die Welt von Schillers Sprache. Künstlerischer Leiter des Projekts ist der Regisseur Dieter Laser; die Texte, ausgewählt von Prof. Rüdiger Safranski und gelesen von drei bekannten Schauspielern, Matthieu Carrière, Mona Petri und Gerd Andresen, werden untermalt von ausserordentlich vielfältigen musikalischen Improvisationen erstrangiger Musiker - des Gitarristen Anders Miolin, des Trompeters Ruedi Linder, des Bassisten Benedikt von der Mühll, des Perkussionisten Pit Gutmann und des Rappers Christian Weirich. An original arrangement by Carl Herring of Schumann’s masterpiece, here recorded on the JCL label for the first time for Guitar and Tenor. Carl Herring and Kevin Kyle met whilst studying at the Royal Academy of Music, London and collaborate regularly as a duo performing classical and modern repertoire. This particular arrangement of Dichterliebe has been a work in progress ever since Carl and Kevin met and JCL Records are delighted to have facilitated this first of many recordings of the duo. The recording is complemented at the end by Carl performing Five Schubert Songs arranged by Johann Kasper Mertz.
