Collection: Instrumental Subcollection: Guitar Original arrangements played on period instruments by acclaimed master guitarist.
TOM KERSTENS is a major figure in guitar music today. A highly acclaimed and versatile performer on modern and period instruments, Tom is one of the most influential champions of the instrument’s cause in his roles of player, recording artist, and artistic director. Among his many awards and tributes is the prestigious Joaquin Rodrigo Commemorative Medal. He presents his new album GOYA, the music of Enrique Granados played on a Torres Guitar.
Enrique Granados (1867-1916) is one of Spain’s greatest composers. Alongside Isaac Albéniz and Manuel de Falla, Granados is regarded as one of the three most successful exponents of a kind of music often called Spanish musical nationalism, evoking the feel & character of Spain.
He was fascinated by the work of painter Francisco Goya (1746-1828) whose ability to depict what the composer regarded as the essence of the Spanish character, greatly inspired his music. This recording features the soloists own arrangements made from the new Urtext edition for the piano by Alicia de Larrocha and Douglas Riva, published by Boileau. |
