VERDI - WAGNER 200 - MOST FAMOUS OPERA CHORUSES - Estonian National Opera - Chorus and Orchestra
ID: ERP6813

Type: CD

Will be released on Sep 25th, 2013 during the festival Verdissimo!

The album includes a bonus CD specially edited and mastered for car audio systems.

The current compilation is a musical homage to three important events taking place in 2013. The whole world celebrates the 200th anniversary of Giuseppe Verdi and Richard Wagner, and the Estonians pay tribute to the 100th anniversary of Estonia Theatre and Concert House. On May 8th, 2013 a magnificent concert of Verdi’s and Wagner’s opera choruses and overtures took place in the Estonia Concert Hall. The recording of the concert makes up the current records. The current album is not the usual double-CD as both discs contain exactly the same music. Why? Probably all of us have noticed that while listening to the music in a car, our hand automatically reaches out to adjust the volume. At times, the music is too loud, at times, barely audible through the surrounding noise, at times, the bass frequencies are distorted, because mostly, the recording of classical music is meant to be enjoyed on a high quality player in relative silence. Estonian Record Productions has worked out a special method of sound editing in order to guarantee optimal listening effect of the current recording also in spaces with high background noise level. We have also taken into consideration that not all car sound systems are of top-quality, so the additional disc can equally well be played on standard equipment. To our knowledge, this is the first car-CD produced in Estonia and one of the very few in the world.

Performed by the Estonian National Opera Chorus and Orchestra, conducted by Risto Joost Pavlo Balakin (basso, #6), Valentīna Tāluma (soprano, #6) Chorus Masters Marge Mehilane, Hirvo Surva Recorded live on May 8th, 2013 in Estonia Concert Hall

RAINA KABAIVANSKA IN CONCERT

RAINA KABAIVANSKA IN CONCERT
ID: GD166
CDs: 1
Type: CD
Collection: Vocal Collection
Subcollection: Voices and Orchestra

This CD contains some of the few Bulgarian recordings of the celebrated opera singer. It is a combination of performances made at different times and with different orchestras. Kabaivanska has made a selection of crown performances in her artistic career. It is a fact well-known to opera-music fans that after Maria Callas she is considered to be the greatest interpreter of the part of Tosca, as well as those of Adriana Lecouvreur, Mimi from "La Boheme", Elisabeth from "Don Carlos". Thus the CD acquires the value of a retrospective registration of Kabaivanska's vocal style in a later stage of her artistic career.

NIGHTINGALES - VASSIL ARNAUDOV - SOFIA CHAMBER CHOIR
ID: GD195
CDs: 1
Type: CD
Collection: Choral Collection
Subcollection: Choir

The CD includes 23 songs performed by the female chamber choir founded in 1966 and bearing the name of the great choral conductor Vassil Arnaudov after his death. A number of the songs have been practised and sung many times under his direction and it is in this sense that the CD is of retrospective and commemorative character. The ensemble demonstrates its great scope of repertoire, performing works from the Renaissance, Classicism, and the 20th century. Many of the works have long become emblematic for the choir. The Vassil Arnaudov Sofia Chamber Choir is also deeply connected with the Bulgarian compositional output. Some of the works have been performed for the first time by the choir.

This laid the beginning of a series of his recordings with Gega New. The CD represents not only his wide repertoire but also his performing abilities and gives an idea of the artist's excellent vocal form, mastery and technique. The listener can also feel his amazing vitality, musical memory, and culture of style.

GIUSEPPE VERDI - DUETS FROM OPERAS - NICOLA GHIUSELEV - ALEXANDRINA PENDATCHANSKA - VLADIMIR STOYANOV

GIUSEPPE VERDI - DUETS FROM OPERAS - NICOLA GHIUSELEV - ALEXANDRINA PENDATCHANSKA - VLADIMIR STOYANOV
ID: GD202
CDs: 1
Type: CD
Collection: Opera & Vocal Collection
Subcollection: Voices and Orchestra

The famous bass Nicola Ghiuselev performs together with the young and already celebrated singers Alexandrina Pendatchanska and Valdimir Stoyanov duets from some of the most loved and widely performed Verdi operas. Still fairly unusual as a genre, this CD of opera ensemble excerpts offers the opportunity of getting to know and appreciating the vocalists' artistic mastery from a different point of view. The duets feature the musicality of the participating couples, alongside with their ability to co-ordinate and combine phrases, moods, feelings and to convey the protagonist's characteristic states, expressed in a harmonious musical sound. They depict vividly Leonora's soul, torn by grief, seeking for Padre Guardiano's kind and wise support; Attila, the cruel warrior and barbarian conqueror, who gradually realises the urgent plea of Ezio, the Roman, trying to convince him to have mercy on his native Italy. Each of the duets contains dramatic and psychological clashes and they all demonstrate the performers' unity, achieved by the soprano Pendatchanska, baritone Stoyanov and Nicola Ghiuselev, whom we hear in all recordings, with exquisite brilliance, both vocal and emotional, and perfect sense of musicality. The CD of Verdi opera duets is original not only for the idea and its realisation but also for the selection of musical excerpts which combine bass with soprano or baritone.

MOZART - CILEA - VERDI - BELLINI - ROSSINI - PUCCINI - OGHNYAN NICOLOV, tenor

MOZART - CILEA - VERDI - BELLINI - ROSSINI - PUCCINI - OGHNYAN NICOLOV, tenor
ID: GD206
CDs: 1
Type: CD
Collection: Vocal and Opera Collection
Subcollection: Voices and Orchestra

The CD contains some of the favourite and frequently performed tenor arias from operas by Verdi, Rossini, Puccini. Alongside with them Oghnyan Nikolov has included in the programme several duets. Having started his career in the last decade of the 20th century, Oghnyan Nikolov became famous as a master of interpreting such trying parts as Scipione, Idomeneo and Titus, all of them from operas by Mozart. An amazing balance of registers and technical skills, combined with musical talent and beautiful voice are features characteristic of the tenor, who has already become popular not only in his native country but also in a number of European opera theatres. Of special merit are his interpretations of Baroque and Early-classical music. At the same time the density of his voice enables him to perform tenor parts from operas by Verdi and Puccini, which makes the release of particular artistic value.

Participating: Elena Stoyanova (soprano), Rumyana Petrova (mezzo-soprano)
