By Sciarrino’s own admission, this is the best and reference version of his well-known 2-act-opera Luci mie traditrici in a stunning performance by Ensemble Algoritmo conducted by Marco Angius.
Luci mie traditrici was presented on 19th May 1998 in the Schwetzinger Festpiele under the German title Die tödliche Blume (The Deadly Flower). The libretto by Sciarrino is based freely on "Il tradimento per l’onore", a prose tragedy published for the first time in 1659 under the name of G.A. Cicognini (Florence 1606-Venice 1649) and followed by various reprintings. The libretto centres on lovers’ basic conflicts but Luci reaches beyond the ordinary by showing how familiar impulses can spiral into the pathological and cause disaster. A timid person turns into a perfidious murderer when he loses the certainty of his relationship. Tender feelings mutate into obsession; boundless love becomes immeasurable suffering, and the dream of lovers’ paradise turns into a vision of eternal damnation. |

Credo is a multimedia musical theatre project produced by Fabrica Musica in co-production with the Staatstheater of Karlsruhe. The project, which focuses on the theme of ethnic and religious conflicts, obtained the support of the European Community in the context of Culture 2000.
Credo has been realized also thanks to the special contribution of young musicians, selected by Fabrica in those countries where the central topics of the project are particularly relevant. These musicians played live, connected via satellite, from the cities of Jerusalem, Istanbul and Belfast, for the eprformance in Karlsruhe (Germany) on April 30th 2004, together with the Badische Staatskapelle of Karlsruhe.
This collection contains pieces the musicians conceived and played for the première. |

Survival machines is a musical piece built on the idea of reflection between DNA sequence and society, and its likeness with mechanical system or computers. The eight segments tell a story of the atomsforming new patterns - the beginning of life, the failure in the systematic coordination, the resulting tension and finally a collapse giving a way to a new form of existence. The music is mainly based on different vocal sounds and effects.

According to the Indian tradition Nandi is the lord of drums and Nataraja is the lord of dance and therefore the pieces were named Nandi Nataraja`. Although there are 6 tracks on the cd, the project is conceived as one whole single song to be listened all at once. Nandi Nataraja comes from Indian oral tradition and it reflects the classical Carnatic music with its raga and taga system.

Joy Frempong decided to do a project on female genital mutilation after watching a television programme on the theme, being struck by the fact that the practice is still common in many countries, among them the north of Ghana, where she was born and spent a few years of her life. The drawings presented in the multimedia track (not included in this sample) collected by Dr. Pie Grassivaro-Gallo, Department of General Psychology, University of Padova for a thesis on the psychological impact of infibulation on young ladies, and kindly given to Fabrica especially for this project. |
