After that come the founder of the Czech national composers school Smetana and his symphonic poem The Moldau, and Weber - the founder of the German romantic and legendary-knights opera, with his famous Invitation to the Dance. The programme ends with one of the greatest masters of polyphonic music and founder of the classical type of oratorio - Haendel, who has written 32 oratorios, one of which is Judas Maccabaeus, an excerpt of which is included in this release. The CD thus features representatives of the pre-classical, classical and romantic periods, and some European national composers' schools.

THYEPOLEO - Orphic Mysterial Rites - Music by Georgi Arnaoudov

THYEPOLEO - Orphic Mysterial Rites - Music by Georgi Arnaoudov
ID: GD223
CDs: 1
Type: CD
Collection: Vocal Collection
Subcollection: Voices and Orchestra

The famous Bulgarian scholar and explorer of the culture of old Thrace, Prof. Alexander Fol, and the composer Georgi Arnaoudov, who has already released a CD for Gega New (GD 187, have tried to make past and present meet. Prof. Fol, an investigator of Thracian Orphism and an expert on Orphic hymns and rites, introduced Arnaoudov into the world of Thracian Orphism and gave the ideas for the emotional content of the twelve hymns-prayers in the CD. The composer has revealed his feeling and his ideas of musical recreation of different hymns. In some of the pieces the human voice is leading, in others, the "action" is done by the instruments, but everywhere the energy of the timbres, of the different volumes and pitches of sound, and its resources to create pictures and exert emotional influence are used. In the very beginning Prof. Fol stresses that "music is the universal cosmic language. The cosmos is rhythm and sound!" Led by this maxim Georgi Arnaudov has created original music in the literary context of Alexander Fol. It possesses a brightly individual character and a typical rhythmic and melodic structure, which carries the spirit of a distant and at the same time, comprehensible age. An age when the striving to be initiated and to perfect oneself spiritually while climbing the steps towards True Knowledge, is combined with purifying wisdom, with searching for interrelations with the Cosmos and the Divine.
This CD is a unique phenomenon and a successful attempt to penetrate into an abstract matter that has always been attracting the people of the Spirit, created more than three thousand years ago by some of the inhabitants of Thrace.

Soloists: Tania Kazandjieva (soprano), Milen Ivanov (tenor), Marko Chobanov (tenor), Dimitar Darlev (bass), Mila Pavlova (aulos), Jassen Enchev (aulos), Maria Tuturilova (harp, lyra, psalterion), Snejina Hristova (percussions), Stojan Pavlov (tympanon, percussions)

GALINA DURMUSHLIYSKA - VOICE OF DOBRUDJA

GALINA DURMUSHLIYSKA - VOICE OF DOBRUDJA
ID: GD227
CDs: 1
Type: CD
Collection: Vocal Collection
Subcollection: Folk Music

Dobrudja is a unique folk region that has produced songs preserved by the Bulgarians beyond the boundaries of the country, together with local tunes which have inevitably been influenced by the neighbouring folk regions. This variety of layers has created the specific character of the Dobrudja music and dance art. Rarely, however, do folk-music lovers have a chance to experience its beauty the way it is presented by Galina Durmushliyska, with exquisiteness and style. She began singing at an early age and was trained in the school of the Dobrudja Ensemble in the town of Dobrich. Having made numerous recordings for the Bulgarian National Radio, the singer does not limit herself to the already familiar songs but rather continues exploring little known folk samples, still existing in the small Dobrudja villages. Some of these have been included in this release "Voice of Dobrudja". Together with songs from North and South Dobrudja (North Dobrudja is now in the territory of Romania), the singer has included in her programme songs from Bessarabia and a tune which Mita Stoicheva, the famous folk singer, never recorded. The booklet notes to the release contain detailed information about them and indications to the exact origination of the songs, something that is seldom done in similar editions. Durmushliyska performs these songs with gratitude and love for the people from whom she has inherited them, thus creating real gems of vocal folk art.

Accompanied by: Theodosii Spassov (kaval), Georgi Petrov (gadulka), Bulgarian National Radio Folk Orchestra
Conductors: Hristofor Radanov, Petar Krumov, Georgi Petrov

During the last months of his life Mozart composed a Requiem, which he was not able to finish. The composition is shrouded in mystery and linked with different legends, all of which are connected with a mysterious gentleman who ordered it. But whatever the reason for its creation, the Requiem is one of the greatest works of the human musical genius. The performance in this release is of prestigious Bulgarian artists, which have achieved an emotional, impressive and fascinating interpretation. The artistic value of the recording is a result of a truthful rendition of the emotions and the meaning of the different movements of the Requiem, and emphasizing the melody and the details of Mozart's music. The soloist ensemble, selected in accordance with the score, contributes to the whole impact of the composition. This release can undoubtedly be ranked among the interesting interpretations of the great work of Mozart.
