Key2Singing Foundation was established in May 2010 with the aim of promoting the art of singing in the broadest possible sense of the word.
In terms of singing, we want to organize larger projects. In addition, we seek cooperation between professionals and amateurs.
The educational aspect plays an important role. This is reflected for instance in workshops and master classes. The Foundation also conducts research; For example, in the field of the voice or music to the benefit of our projects. We also want to publish CDs and (sheet) music. All non-profit.

Giuseppe Domenico Scarlatti was born in Naples on the 26th of October 1685 as the sixth of ten children to parents Alessandro Scarlatti and Antonia Anzalone. Alessandro was already by then a famous composer. It is not clear who taught Domenico music. Perhaps it was Francesco Gasparini, Bernardo Pasquini or even Antonio Vivaldi during his time spent in Venice. Alessandro the father was for a time nominated as director of music at the basilica Santa Maggiore of Rome, and during this period Domenico worked there as his assistant between 1708 and 1709.

While in Rome, Domenico was appointed to the court of the Polish queen Maria Casimira de la Grange d’Anguien, who was at the time in exile there. He wrote a number of vocal works for her, including the opera Tolomeo e Alessandro ovvero La corona disprezzata (1711). In 1713 Domenico was appointed firstly as assistant director of music at the Cappella Giulia of St. Peters in Rome, and subsequently in 1714 as director of music. It is possible that he wrote his ten part Stabat Mater for the Cappella. Notably during the period in which Domenico was working and studying in Rome, he wrote many vocal and orchestral works for both secular and church clients. In addition Domenico seemed to have been a gifted harpsichordist.

It was in these his younger years that Domenico met and became friends with G. F. Handel who was spending a number of years in Italy. Cardinal Ottoboni encouraged the two musicians to enter into a musical duel with each other, the result of which that Scarlatti was declared the best harpsichordist and Handel the best organist. The two composers had great respect for each other.

The year is 1996. Classically trained saxophonist Niels Bijl is at the end of his Conservatorium education. In a record shop in the centre of Enschede: in a spare hour he is trawling the cd racks, looking for unknown music, new inspiration. Ronald Moelker walks past him, purposefully, towards the counter. With a clear question: do you also have recordings of classical music on saxophone? A conversation quickly follows, a friendship is born.

What follows; more than 20 years of research, collaboration and a shared passion for enjoying life. Niels and Ronald, managing to remain unfettered by the apparently different worlds of their chosen instruments, take on all challenges together. The 15th Century British complexity of Baldwine’s A Duo, the light-footedness of Francois Couperin’s Tic-Toc-Choc. Bach as uniting thread, with highlights such as the two-part canon from the Kunst der Fugue and the flute sonata BWV 1035. Aided by the expert mastery of recorder builder Adriana Breukink, the saxophone and recorder come ever closer to each other. The romance of young love is reflected in Tandernaken. The festive cadans of the early middle ages are celebrated in the Estampie Petrone. In an unknown duo, referred to as No. 3, harsh dissonant sounds are continuously replaced with beautiful harmonies, ending in a perfect unison. Ronald Moelker’s composition Ithaca, written for Niels, is the perfect introduction to the heart of the collaboration and friendship: Two fantasies by Telemann.

Guillermo Brachetta & Menno van Delft (harpsichords)
Following on from the resounding critical success of his first solo album (Ciaccona: Works for harpsichord - RES10126), harpsichordist Guillermo Brachetta returns with Divine Noise, a thrilling album of theatrical works for two harpsichords.

Joined by the renowned Dutch player Menno van Delft - and performed on two incredible French-style instruments by harpsichord builder Titus Crijnen - the duo present a programme of French Baroque works from François Couperin (La Paix du Parnasse), Gaspard Le Roux (Suite in F major) & Jean-Philippe Rameau. The centre-piece of the disc is a new arrangement by Brachetta of twenty movements from Rameau's comic opera masterpiece Platée.

'He and van Delft play as though on one supercharged harpsichord, their ensemble immaculate, the clarity and resonance of their instruments beautifully captured.'

Concentus VII - Emily Atkinson (soprano), Louise Strickland (recorder), Belinda Paul (oboe & recorder), Amélie Addison (cello) & Martin Knizia (harpsichord)
Baroque ensemble Concentus VII make their Resonus Classics debut with an album of Italian Cantatas and Sonatas by composers including Handel, A. Scarlatti, Lotti and Mancini.

Entitled Et in Arcadia ego, the album explores the work of the Italian society Pontificia Accademia degli Arcadi (The Academy of Arcadia), established in 1690 in memory of the great patron of the arts, Queen Christina of Sweden, who moved to Rome after abdicating her throne in 1654. Advocating a simple and direct style, the Academy took its inspiration from peasants and an idealised world of rural innocence.

Among the works featured here are two of Handel's canatas - the extravagant and virtuosic Mi Palpita il Cor and the Pastoral themed Pensieri notturni di Filli - that demonstrate the composer's work during his time in Rome, and Alessandro Scarlatti's cantata Bella s'io t'amo, which includes a recently discovered opening recitative and is notable for its unusual use of a recorder obbligato.

'Period-instrument group Concentus VII brings vivacious colour to these melodramatic scenes, with soprano Emily Atkinson especially plangent in the recitatives.'

Elysium Ensemble (Greg Dikmans - baroque flute, Lucinda Moon - baroque violin)
Following on from their critically acclaimed Resonus debut of duets by Johann Joachim Quantz, the Elysium Ensemble have recorded an album of the Six Sonates, Op. 51, by French composer Joseph Bodin de Boismortier (1689-1755).

The second in a series of releases based on research into historical performance practice sees Elysium principles Greg Dikmans (flute) and Lucinda Moon (violin) continue their exploration of neglected and lesser-known works continuing the theme of ‘The Art of Elegant Conversation’.

Prolific in his lifetime, publishing over 100 collections of Suites, Sonatas and other instrumental music, Boismortier’s great depth and imagination comes through in these duos for flute and violin brought to life with great panache by the Elysium Ensemble.
